IMPLEMENTATION OF POWER SAVING AND POWER EFFICIENCY PROGRAMS IN THE EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM Inspection of the energy usage at hundred educational institutions of different duty revealed a formal approach to the self-designed programs of power saving and enhancing of energy efficiency. Suggested is to use rank analysis aimed at monitoring of the execution and upgrading of these programs. Considered is a real mechanism for successful management in the energy sector for the educational system drawn on REC potential in regards to energy saving issues in buildings and constructions. CONSTRUCTION OF HIGH-VOLTAGE CASCADE RECUPERATING DIRECT FREQUENCY CONVERTERS FOR ELECTRIC DRIVE Considered are the problems of modernization of powerful high-voltage AC drives based on the direct cascade frequency converters with pulse-width modulation (PWM). We put forward the architecture and synthesized a system of recuperating cascade converter control. The system provides regulation and suppression of the reactive power ripple, improvement of the harmonic content of line and output currents of cascade frequency converters (CFC). Results of simulation of the operation modes of powerful high-voltage asynchronous motor drive based on a cascade direct frequency converter (DFC) with PWM are presented. A COGENERATION PLANT FOR PRODUCTION OF COMPRESSED AIR (PNEUMOENERGY) AND HEAT We consider a cogeneration plant for production of compressed air and heat designed on the basis of a gas internal-combustion engine with a heat regenerator and domestic centrifugal compressor. DEVELOPMENT OF CONTACT WIRE ICING CONTROL AT INDUSTRIAL RAILWAY TRANSPORT An anti-icing technology is developed for railway contact wire using a special composite product consisting of a hollow silica-alumina or ceramic microspheres, latex-acrylic blend, and inorganic pigments thus providing substantial reduction of the operating costs. Shown are the main stages of system design starting from estimated figures, identification of the key factors, and going to testing of the developed prediction model. We substaniated the use of forecasting techniques based on artificial intelligence (artificial neural networks, fuzzy logic theory.) MODERNIZATION OF ELECTROEXPLOSIVE PLANTS MODIFYING THE STRUCTURE AND PROPERTIES OF THE SURFACE LAYERS OF MATERIALS Considered are the prospects of upgrading the electroexplosive accelerators that can transfer the technology of electroexplosive modification of the surface into the field of nanotechnology using static electric and magnetic fields. DETERMINATION OF THE PROTECTION SENSITIVITY TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE ERROR OF CURRENT TRANSFORMER Determination of the sensitivity coefficient by the primary fault current is shown to give overestimated results. We propose to take into account the current error of current transformer upon determination of the protection sensitivity. DEVELOPMENT OF DESIGN AND TESTING OF THERMODYNAMIC CONDENSATE CATCHER We describe a new design of thermodynamic condensate catcher and the results of thermal and hydraulic tests. THE DATA ACQUISITION SYSTEM WITH DIGITAL TEMPERATURE SENSORS Described are the controllers of digital temperature sensors. A possibility of developing a utility software to maintain the data acquisition system are considered. The basic principles and rules for integrating the controllers in a network are discussed. EFFICIENCY OF THE BLAST FURNACE GAS UTILIZATION Statistic data on operation of the top-pressure recovery turbine and neural network technology are used to develop a model turbine, which can be used in determination of the normative values of the blast furnace gas discharge rate attributed to electricity generation. Developed are indicators of the energy efficiency of the blast furnace gas upon its transportation from the blast furnace to the consumer. Prior to modeling the turbine using cluster analysis we managed to reveal a possibility of reducing the number of input parameters of the model on the basis of their association. CALCULATION OF THE FABRIC LOSS IN RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS Presented is analysis of different methods of calculating building load coefficients based on the method used for more than 50 years: a method for determining the loads proceeding from the building volume calculated by the outward measure. Considered is a storey dependence of the fabric loss (through walls, windows, floors) which ensures optimal choice of the most effective measures for heat insulation.
